The Marketing Hat

If you are one of the lucky practices to have a marketing professional on staff – you have insider expertise to navigate the world of healthcare marketing. If you are like the majority of practices, someone on your staff is wearing an additional hat – the marketing hat. And often, with little to no marketing experience.

Ask your administrator what the top goals/priorities are for the year and determine marketing tactics to meet the goals.

Start with the basics:

  1. Your Brand – in simple terms – your logo and contact information used consistently in all of your practice documents. (office stationery, patient brochures, appointment cards, signage, etc.)
  2. Practice Website – optimize it for patients – a map with directions, an overview of services and your providers. Include online registration forms, a link to your portal, a way to pay online.
  3. Social Media – looking to engage patients or attract new ones? Look to Facebook and YouTube first.
  4. Content – practice newsletters, website articles, social media posts, patient brochures, direct marketing campaigns. Include value-added services, what sets you apart from the competition, and make it personal – share patient stories.

You can always improve your marketing sophistication later. Just put your best foot forward by starting with the basics.
